Government Electrical Engineering Department

Government Electrical Engineering Department carries out electrical inspections of residential, commercial and industrial electrical installations to ensure they meet national standards. It also provides certification of compliance for electrical installations of all domestic, commercial, and industrial electrical installations that are to be connected to the island’s electrical grid.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SERVICES

Conducts electrical inspections for all newly constructed properties and major building renovations

Conducts electrical inspections for renewable energy installations

Conducts electrical inspections for electrical alterations

Issues certification once inspection meets the required standards

GEED also facilitates electrical inspections for Renewable Energy installations.

The use of Temporary Electric Power is permitted during specific periods.

An electrical inspection is required for all newly constructed properties or major building renovations.

Formal complaints can be addressed to the Chief Electrical Officer, or Deputy Chief Electrical Officer.
