Phase one of road rehabilitation on Highway D (Shop Hill, St. Thomas) will start on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from the junction of Content and Rock Hall Road and head in a southerly direction to Content Road.
C.O. Williams Construction Limited will carry out the work on this phase for approximately six months from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. As a result, the road will be closed from Content Road to the junction of Rock Hall Road and Content. Motorists are asked to avoid the area where possible and are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly.
The Ministry of Transport and Works will rehabilitate Shop Hill in phases in an effort to minimize disruption to the residents, businesses and traffic. The work is being done under the MTW CAF Programme, which is funded by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Rehabilitative work along Shop Hill will seek to improved drainage as well as the road surface and subbase. Sidewalks will also be constructed and the road will be widened in some areas.
