ROAD WORKS ACTIVITIES FOR JULY 14 – 18, 2025

Road Marking 

The Road Marking crew of the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) will repaint the centre lines from Sam Lord’s to the Crane Roundabout, St. Philip, and on Warrens Hill, St. Michael. The crew will also remark BET Hill to the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute (SJPI) Roundabout. Work will be done Monday to Thursday, between 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., weather permitting.

Motorists are urged to avoid speeding through work areas while road markings are being done, as this endangers the lives of workers and damages the freshly painted road markings.

St. Michael – Work on the medium and slipper on the Mighty Grynner Highway continues, and clean-up of the area is to be done this week. The road will be reduced to one lane from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Manhole repairs and excavation also continue on the Mighty Grynner Highway. Tree trimming will be carried out on Harbour Road and the Mighty Grynner Highway, while repairs to a head wall in Martindales Road and outside The St. Michael School are ongoing. Tree trimming is also scheduled along Harbour Road and Mighty Grynner.

St. George –Weeding is scheduled in Walker’s Development, while debushing is planned at Melverto. Drainage work is also scheduled for Salters. Pothole patching will be done throughout districts.

Christ Church –  Repairs to a concrete drain on Highway 7, near Courtyard by Marriott, have commenced.  In Parish Land, road reinstatement is ongoing, while repairs to a manhole and grill cover are being done in 5th Avenue Crystal Crescent, Kingsland. Debushing and drainage are planned for Kendal Hill, Church Hill and Lodge Road. Pothole patching is scheduled for Albany, Kingsland, Warners Main Road, Pilgrim Road, Fairy Valley, Long Beach, Plumgrove, Inch Marlow, Vauxhall, Briar Hall and Elizabeth Park.

St. Philip – Excavating, compacting, road widening, and slipper and kerb construction are ongoing in Johnson Development, while masonry work is ongoing in Foursquare. Weeding will be carried out in Ruby Park and Union. Mechanical debushing will be done along Diamond Valley. Pothole patching is scheduled for Parish Land, St. Catherine and Fortesque.

St. Lucy – Concrete works are scheduled for Josey Hill. Drain cleaning will be carried out in Benthams, Nestfield and Alleynedale. Pothole patching is scheduled for Maycocks, Josey Hill and Fustic Road.

St. Peter – Slipper and kerb construction is scheduled in Boccobelle, in the area of St. Philip-the-Less Church and the Edna Nicholls School. Work continues on the box drain and slipper and kerb along Maynards Retreat Road. Pothole patching is scheduled for K.N.R. Husbands Highway, The Rock to Indian Ground, and Highway B from Portland to Diamond Corner. Farm Bridge remains closed until further notice. Access to the Ronald Mapp Highway from Speightstown, and vice versa, is through Warleigh Road. 

St. James – Repairs are ongoing to two box drains in Porters Road. The slipper drain in Holetown is also being repaired. Pothole patching will be done on Mullins Road and The Whim.

St. John – Masonry works continue in Sherbourne. Weeding will be carried out in Coach Hill, and debushing will be done at Bath Depot and Wakefield. Pothole patching is scheduled for Martins Bay, Rosegate, Guinea, and Edgecliff.

St. Thomas – Repairs to a dip in the road are ongoing in Mount Wilton between Laynes Bridge Junction, Straughans Village, and Mount Wilton Main Road. The footpath and retaining wall were completed at Stoney Gully, and preparation for paving has started. Debushing, drainage work, and extensive pothole patching are scheduled throughout the districts.

St. Joseph/St. Andrew –  Extensive pothole patching will commence in Coconut Grove and Newton Crescent. Construction of the slipper and kerb in Lakes Village continues. Road construction is ongoing at Swanns. Debushing, patching, extensive pothole patching, and drainage work are scheduled throughout the parishes. Persons are reminded not to drive on Swanns Bridge, which has been closed due to deterioration.
