ROAD WORKS ACTIVITIES FOR DECEMBER 9 – 13, 2024

Road Marking 

The road marking crews of the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) will repaint the Wynter Crawford (Six Roads) roundabout, St. Philip. Centre lines are to be painted near the St. George Primary School to Jordans while stop lines will be done from Gun Hill/St. Judes Junction to Groves Corner, St. George. Work will be done Monday to Thursday between 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Ongoing road works

St. Michael – Kerb wall under construction in Warrens. Tree trimming to be carried out in Strathclyde, Barbarees Hill and Kensington Lodge.Work is on hold at King William Street and at Lightfoot Lane in The City. Pothole patching is scheduled through out districts.  

St. John –Masonry works are ongoing at Malvern. Mechanical debushing will be done at Palmer’s. Pothole patching in Martin’s Bay.

St. Philip –  Construction of a bounce-up continues in Atlantic Park. In Rock Hall, the construction of the slipper and kerb also continues. Ruby Plantation Road will be graded and marl filled. De-bushing is scheduled for Rices and Kirtons while weeding is scheduled for Fortesque. Pothole patching will be done throughout the parish.

St. George – Work continues on the short roads in Constant Tenantry and Daniel’s Land under the Community Access Road Transformation (CART) Project. Paving in Rock Hall. Drainage work will be carried out on Ellerton Main Road. Pothole patching is due for Glebe Land, Cottage Retreat, Middleton and Melverton. Weeding and de-bushing are scheduled for Middleton, Bellair and Valley Main Road.

Christ Church – Work on the footpaths will recommence in Hastings. Concrete works are scheduled for Gibbons Terrace, Homestead, and Sheraton Park. Drainage work is being carried out at Fairholme Gardens and Inch Marlow. Pothole patching is scheduled for Breedy Land, Hopewell, the road Chancery Lane and Parish Land. Debushing is scheduled for Maxwell. Due to road depressions at Sayes Court, motorists, especially drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, are urged to be cautious while travelling around the small roundabout.

St. Joseph/St. Andrew – Road repairs continue at Spa Hill. Persons are reminded not to drive on Swanns Bridge which has been closed due to deterioration. Handrails are to be completed at Swanns. Gabion work at St. Elizabeth continues. Road works at Trio Path and Upper Parks. Manual and mechanical de-bushing continue on Ermie Bourne Highway, Cox Hill to Gaggs Hill, Lower Walkers to Bawdens and Greenalnd to Farley Hill. Pothole patching will take place from Cherry Tree Hill to Morgan Lewis Windmill.

St. Lucy – Work continues on Pie Corner Bridge; the road is closed until further notice. Motorists may divert at Well Road; local access will be granted. Work on Well Road No. 2 is soon to be completed under the C.A.R.T Programme. Debushing will be carried out from Hope Road to River Bay. Pot-hole patching will be done throughout districts.

St. Peter – Debushing at Pleasant Hall to Alleynedale to Rose Hill, Lonesome Hill to Indian Ground to Welchtown. Pothole patching is being done throughout the parish. Farm Bridge remains closed until further notice; access to the Ronald Mapp Highway from Speightstown, and vice versa, is through Warleigh Road. 

St. James – Pothole patching being carried out on Highway 1. Manhole covers are being repaired along Highway 1 in  Porters and Holetown. Drainage work is ongoing at Hoytes Village. A headwall is being constructed in Durants. Pothole patching is scheduled throughout the districts.

St. Thomas – Preparations are being made for paving in Stoney Gully. Debushing and pothole patching scheduled throughout districts.

MTW advises pedestrians and motorists to obey traffic wardens, pay attention to signage, and exercise due care and attention when traversing work sites.
