SPRINGFIELD TO NEWTON CRESCENT, ST. JOSEPH CLOSED FOR SPIROLITE CULVERT INSTALLATION

On Wednesday, September 10, the junction off Springfield to Newton Crescent, St. Joseph will be closed, from 8.30 a.m. to 4 :00 p.m. This is to allow a crew from the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) to install a spirolite culvert.

          Motorists wishing to access The Ridge to Coconut Grove, St. Joseph can still do so.  Persons seeking to travel to Chalky Mount and Coggins, St. Andrew or Dark Hole and Cambridge St. Joseph, coming from the Proute/Clifton Hill, St. Thomas area, will have to divert to Bloomsbury through Springvale, Trio Path and Baxters unto Dark Hole and proceed to their regular routes.

Alternatively, persons coming from St. George to access Newton Crescent, Dark Hole, Chalky Mount, Cambridge or Coggins can proceed to Ermy Bourne Highway, St. Andrew divert through Dark Hole or Coggins Hill and proceed on to their regular route.     

Springfield to Newton Crescent is being refurbished for use as a bypass road by motorists and public transportation. This follows the failure and closure of Melvin Hill Bridge, St. Joseph. Minor tree trimming, pothole patching, and road resurfacing are still being completed.
