ROAD WORKS ACTIVITIES FOR OCTOBER 13 – 17, 2025

Road Marking

The Road Marking crew of the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) will be painting centre lines from Sam Lords Castle to the Crane in St. Philip. They will be also remarking centre lines from Hanson Hill to South District to Boarded Hall roundabout, St. George.  Work will be done Monday to Thursday, between 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., weather permitting.   

Motorists are urged to avoid speeding through work areas while road markings are being done, as this endangers the lives of workers and damages the freshly painted road markings.

Ongoing road works

St. Michael – Repairs to a section of slipper and kerb in Parkinson Field, The Pine. In Upper Collymore Rock, repairs to the culvert (near Nazarene church) continue – concrete work has been completed on one half of the road and the grill is being reinforced. Repairs to a culvert in Whitepark Road continue. In Grazettes, in the vicinity of the primary school, concrete bollards are being installed. On the Mighty Grynner Highway, just outside of Central Purchasing, repairs to a section of the road which sunk, has commenced. Excavation work has been done and the area has now to be cleared of debris for inspection by an engineer. The construction of the slipper and kerb in Clapham is on hold.

Christ Church – Repairs to headwall in Yorkshire Road (Dayrells Hill entrance) continue while repairs to Maxwell Main Road have commenced. Debushing and drainage works are planned for Oistins Terminal, Oistins Main Road. Graeme Hall Roundabout, Top Rock Roundabout. Tree Trimming is also being done in Warners entrance (off ABC Highway). Pothole patching is scheduled for Elizabeth Park, Kent, Coral Ridge, Edey Village, Coral Drive, Parish Land, Atlantic Shores and Charnocks.

St. George – Weeding is scheduled for Lower Estate Tenantry and Newbury. Masonry work, which includes kerb construction and accommodation, is scheduled for Valley Main Road. Pothole patching will be done at Hope Road, Middleton, Harry Cox Road, The Palm Road, Thorpes Cottages, Drax Hall and Ellerton Main Road.

St. Philip – Manhole repairs are ongoing in Coral Crescent, Long Bay. That section of road has been closed temporarily to allow the concrete works to cure. Slipper and kerb reconstruction have been completed in Johnson Development, while clean-up and reinstatement of the site remains to be done. Slipper and kerb cleaning are scheduled around Six Roads Hub. Weeding will be done in Ruby Development, while mechanical debushing will be done in Jezreel. Bus stop and sign replacement will be carried out in districts. Pothole patching is scheduled throughout the parish.

St. Lucy – Concrete works are being done in Sutherland No. 2 and Josey Hill. Drain and well cleaning will be carried out in Date Tree Hill, Sutherland No. 1 and Rock Hall Road. Debushing will be done in Cluff and Jordans. Pothole patching is scheduled for Stroude Bay, Grape Hall, Salmonds and Cove Bay Road.

St. Peter – Work continues on the box drain and slipper and kerb along Maynard’s Retreat Road. Weeding is being done in Mango Lane and Queens Street while debushing is being carried out in Ashton Hall, Tom Bend Road and Alleynedale. Drainage work continues in Sunset Heights. Pothole patching is scheduled for Farm Road, Battaleys, Indian Ground and The Rock. Farm Bridge remains closed until further notice. Access to the Ronald Mapp Highway from Speightstown, and vice versa, is through Warleigh Road.   

St. Thomas –The footpath and retaining wall at Stoney Gully are done, and preparation for paving has started. Masonry work continues in Arthur Seat. Drainage works is also being done in Arthur Seat. Manual debushing is being done along the Ronald Mapp Highway – Warrens to Redmans Village while mechanical debushing is being carried out at Canefield, Fortress Hill and Farmers. Pothole patching will be carried out in Jackson, Shop Hill and Arthur Seat.

St. James –Repairs are ongoing on two box drains in Porters Road. Excavation works are planned for slipper and kerb construction near the Archives Department and masonry work in The Whim. Drain cleaning on Highway 1, from Vauxhall Road to Road View. Pothole patching is scheduled for Upper & Lower Mount Standfast, Porters Road, Clarkes Road, Paynes Bay, Durants Village, Warrens Park North, Husbands Heights, Wanstead Heights, Bagatelle Terrace and Prior Park Terrace. 

St. John – Masonry works are continuing in Sherbourne and Malvern. Debushing will be done in Clifton Hall and Sherbourne. Pothole patching is scheduled for Colleton, Clifton Hall, Redland and Claybury.

St. Joseph/St. Andrew – Motorists and public transportation can now use Springfield to Newton Crescent bypass road during the closure of the bridge. Bissex is being prepared for paving. Road repairs are being done at Joes River. Debushing will also be done in Cane Garden, Trio Path, Swanns Bridge and Chimborazo. Bridge maintenance and debushing are being carried out at Bawdens Bridge and Joy Road. Drainage work is being undertaken in Belleplaine Main Road and Isolation Road. Tree trimming will be done at St. Sylvans. Pothole patching Turners Hall,  Chalky Mount, Hillaby and throughout the districts. Persons are reminded not to drive on Swanns Bridge, which has been closed due to deterioration.
