ROAD WORKS ACTIVITIES FOR DECEMBER 15 – 19, 2025

Road Marking

The day team of the Road Marking crew of the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) will be replacing and repairing damaged signs in various parishes, Monday to Friday between 9.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m.

Motorists are urged to avoid speeding through work areas while road markings are being done, as this endangers the lives of workers and damages the freshly painted road markings.

Ongoing road works

St. Lucy – Drainage works and debushing are being done at Checker Hall while mechanical debushing will be carried out in Maycocks and Harrises. Pothole patching is scheduled for Free Hill, Grape Hall and Connell Town.

St. Peter – Drainage and debushing continue between Farm Road and Church Street in Speightstown while debushing is being done in The Castle.  Pothole patching is scheduled for Niles Road, KNR Husbands Highway and Miller Road. Farm Bridge remains closed until further notice. Access to the Ronald Mapp Highway from Speightstown, and vice versa, is through Warleigh Road.  

St. Thomas – The footpath and retaining wall at Stoney Gully have been completed, and preparation for paving has started. Drainage works are being done in Hopewell and Jack-in-the-box Gully. Pothole patching will be carried out in Dunscumbe, Dunscumbe Hill, Porey Spring, Hillaby and Spring Farm.

St. James – Installation and replacement of bridge posts will be done at Oxnards, St. James while concrete works are ongoing at Risk Road. Debushing and drainage works will be carried out at Lancaster (Highway 2A). Pothole patching is scheduled for Prior Park Terrace and Husbands Heights. 

St. John – Masonry works are continuing in Cherry Grove, Sherbourne and Malvern. Debushing will be done in Newcastle, Martins Bay and St. Margarets. Pothole patching is scheduled for Edgecliff, Massiah Street and Colleton.

St. Michael – Repairs to a damaged footpath along Government Hill has commenced. The damaged culvert and manhole covers are still awaiting repairs on Jackson Main Road. On the Mighty Grynner Highway, just outside of Central Purchasing, repairs to a section of the road which sunk, are mostly completed. This area will soon be patched. Repairs to a section of slipper and kerb in Parkinson Field, The Pine continue. In Grazettes, in the vicinity of the primary school, work on concrete bollards, to be installed, is on hold. Manhole repairs are on hold at the junction of Beckles Road and Bay Street. The construction of the slipper and kerb in Clapham is also on hold.

St. George – Weeding continues in Mayfield while drainage work will be carried out in Rock Hall. Pothole patching will be done from Newbury to Middleton, Thorpes, Cottages and Highway B.

Christ Church – Repairs to manholes continue at Wotton. Road reinstatement and resurfacing have commenced at Chancery Lane/Long Beach. Debushing and drainage works are planned for Hopewell, Pilgrim Place B and Oistins. Pothole patching is scheduled for Hopewell, Gall Hill, Inch Marlow, Sheraton, Silver Sands, Long Beach and Coral Ridge.

St. Joseph/St. Andrew – Masonry work is being done at Brucevale and Coggins Hill. Road repairs at Trio Path and road reinstatement at Lakes Village.  Culvert repairs will be carried out at Richmond Road while road construction continues in Swanns. Debushing will be done in Apes Hill, White Hill and Rock Hall. Drainage work is being undertaken at Mose Bottom, Ermy Bourne Highway and Isolation Road. Pothole patching will be done in Turners Hall, Chalky Mount, Hillaby and Bawdens. Persons are reminded not to drive on Swanns Bridge, which has been closed due to deterioration. Motorists and public transportation can now use Springfield to Newton Crescent bypass road during the closure of Melvin Hill bridge.

St. Philip – Manhole and culvert reconstruction at Leadvale and Four Roads. Slipper and kerb construction at Eastbourne while weeding will be done in Ruby Development. Slipper and kerb reconstruction will be done in Cox Hill. Pothole patching is scheduled throughout the parish.
