ROAD WORKS ACTIVITIES FOR AUGUST 17 – 21, 2026

Road Marking

The day crew of the Road Marking section of the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) will be remarking school crossings at A. Dacosta Edwards Primary School, All Saints Primary, The Alexandra School, The Alleyne School, Arthur Smith Primary, Coleridge and Parry School, Daryl Jordan Secondary School, Gordon Greenidge Primary School, Half Moon Fort Primary School and Ignatius Byer Primary School. The work will be carried out from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting.

The night crew of the Road Marking section will also continue the remarking of school crossings in St. Michael, Christ Church,  St. James and St. Peter. This work will be carried out from Monday to Thursday, between 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., weather permitting.

Motorists are urged to avoid speeding through work areas while road markings and other works are being done, as this endangers the lives the lives of workers and damages the freshly painted road markings.

Ongoing road works

Christ Church – Masonry work continues at Parish Land, where a bus stop and retaining wall are being repaired. In Chancery Lane, repairs to the kerb wall are being done while in Coral Ridge road resurfacing is set to commence. Debushing and drainage works will be carried out at Church Hill, Canevale and Welches. Pothole patching will be carried out at Landsdown, Inch Marlow, Graeme Hall, Vauxhall, Breedy Land, St. Davids, Montrose and Silver Hill.

St. Michael – Repairs to a head wall at Fontabelle to be done while manhole grills are also being repaired off the Mighty Grynner Highway. The plywood sheets, used  for safety on open drains from Fontabelle to the Mighty Grynner Highway for the last lap weekend of Crop Over, will be removed. Drain cleaning will be carried out throughout Bridgetown and the districts. Pothole patching will be done in the Ivy. Cleavedale, Golf Club Road, Forde’s Road and Bay Street. Emmerton Lane is being prepared for paving.

St. George – Weeding is taking place in Walkers, Ellerton and Belair #1 while masonry work will continue in Workmans, where a retaining wall is being reconstructed. Construction of speed humps will commence outside of St. Lukes Primary School. Pothole patching is being done in Sweet Vale and Newbury to St. Judes.

St. JohnWeeding will be done in Gall Hill No. 3 Development while debushing takes place at Kendal and Guinea. Masonry work in Malvern and Cherry Grove also continues. Pothole patching to be done in Pool #1, Roebuck Street, Small Hope and Venture.

St. Thomas – Drain cleaning and removal of drainage stuff in Sharon. Debushing is also being done at Farmers and Lower Walkers. Preparation of road edge at Stoney Gully continue. Pothole patching (coldmix) will occur at Roland Mapp Highway, Ashford, Proute and Cane Garden.

St. Andrew/St. Joseph – Drain cleaning, manual and mechanical debushing in Franklin Douglin, Shorey Village, Long Pond, Douglin Village, Greenland and Fun Ranch. Masonry works (bounce-up) Shorey Village, in progress. Pothole patching (hot mix) at Hillaby andTurners Hall..

St. Peter –  Contrete works at Rose Hill and Alma Parris School. Debushing will be done in Maynards-Retreat Road, Boscobelle and Porters Road while weeding will commence at Portland. Pothole patching will occure in Farm Road, KNR Husbands Highway and Golden Mile. Farm Bridge remains closed until further notice. Access to the Ronald Mapp Highway from Speightstown, and vice versa, is through Warleigh Road.   

St. Philip – Masonry work in Cox Hill and Supers while the culvert will be cleaned in Farm Road. Weeding will be done in Green Point to Ocean City. Mechanical debushing will take place from Supers to Fortescue while manual debushing will occur at Sandy Hill, to Diamond Valley ,Six Roads to Four Square . Pothole patching will be carried out along Highway 5, Seaview Road, Foul Bay and Station Hill.

St. Lucy – Drainage cleaning at Well Road and St. Clements. Weeding and debushing will take place from Nesfield to Chance Hall while pothole patching is also scheduled for Nesfield to Chance Hall.

St. James – Drainage works along Highway 1 at Fitts Village and The Garden while concrete works are also happening along Highway 1 at Fitts Vilage, Road View and Mount Standfast. Pothole patching will take place at The Whim, Arch Hall and Bennetts.
