Guard rails continue to be installed on bridges along Highway 2A

New guard rails will be installed along three additional bridges on Highway 2A, as the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) continues to improve bridge safety across the island.

Coles Engineering, on behalf of MTW, will install and renovate guard rails on The Whim Bridge, St. Peter on Thursday, May 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and on Sion Hill Bridge, St. James from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. that same day.

On Friday, May 23, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., guard rails will be installed on Westmoreland Bridge in St. James. As a result, the road will be reduced to one lane at all locations for the duration of the work.

Motorists are urged to slow down and be cautious when approaching and traversing the work sites. Persons are also advised to follow the directions of the traffic wardens and the signs posted and to expect some delays.

New guard rails were installed and others were repaired at the Mile and a Quarter Bridge and Whitehall Bridge earlier this week. MTW and Coles Engineering apologise for the inconvenience and thank businesses, residents, and motorists for their understanding and cooperation.
