The Drainage Division highlights that plastic bottles are a major contributor to blocked drains in Barbados, which can increase the likelihood of flooding. Cane Garden to Bridgefield and Shop Hill to Content in St. Thomas are earmarked for road reconstruction Ahead of the work, Hangman Hill in the central parish will be extensively patched as it has been identified as a temporary diversion route. Reece Road, which is undergoing construction, is also expected to be completed. Deputy Prime Minister of Barbados and Minister of Transport and Works, Santia Bradshaw made the disclosure on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, following a technical tour with officials from the Ministry of Transport and Works and consultant engineers. The Ministry is taking a “design and build” approach to the construction of both roads. Minister Bradshaw also visited Prior Park Road in St. James and was pleased with the progress of work. Prior Park Road, Cane Garden to Bridgefield, and Shop Hill to Content are being done under MTW’s CAF Programme which is funded by the Development Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean.
