ROAD WORKS ACTIVITIES FOR JANUARY 12 – 16, 2026

Road Marking

The day crew of the Road Marking section of the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) will be painting headwalls and handrails on Highway 2A, between Mile-and-a-Quarter, St. Peter  and Westmoreland, St. James, Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m., weather permitting.

Motorists are urged to avoid speeding through work areas while road markings are being done, as this endangers the lives the lives of workers and damages the freshly painted road markings.

Ongoing road works

St. Philip – Manual weeding is being done in Ruby Development while manhole and culvert reconstruction continues at Leadvale and Four Road. Slipper and kerb construction is occurring at Eastbourne and Cox Hill. Slipper and kerb reconstruction will be done in Cox Hill.

Christ Church – Repairs are being done to a manhole at Crystal Cresent Main Road – Kingsland; while preparatory work for pothole patching at Canevale Crescent is ongoing.  Debushing and drainage works are planned for Wilcox Hill, Pegwell Boggs and Lower Carters Gap. Pothole patching will be carried out in Sheraton, Sargeants Village, Bannantyne, Wilcox, Maloney Drive, Hopewell, Vauxhall Main Road, Inch Marlow and Ealing Park South.

St. George – Weeding continues in Belair and Middleton while drainage work will be carried out in Ashbury and Goiden Ridge. The masonry crew continues work in Valley View while mechanical debushing will be done in Jericho. Pothole patching will be carried out in Workmans and Walkers.

St. John – Weeding will be done in Haynes Hill, Masonry works are continuing in Cherry Grove, Sherbourne and Malvern. Pothole patching is scheduled for Guinea, Massiah Street and Colleton.

St. Lucy – Drainage works and debushing are being done at Checker Hall while mechanical debushing will be carried out in Maycocks and Harrises.

St. Peter – Drainage and debushing continue between Farm Road and Church Street in Speightstown while debushing is being done in The Castle.  Farm Bridge remains closed until further notice. Access to the Ronald Mapp Highway from Speightstown, and vice versa, is through Warleigh Road.  

St. Thomas – The footpath and retaining wall at Stoney Gully have been completed, and preparation for paving has started. Drainage works are being done in Hopewell and Jack-in-the-box Gully.

St. James – Installation and replacement of bridge posts will be done at Oxnards, St. James while concrete works are ongoing at Risk Road. Debushing and drainage works will be carried out at Lancaster (Highway 2A).

St. Michael – On the Mighty Grynner Highway, just outside of Central Purchasing, repairs to a section of the road which sunk, are mostly completed. This area will soon be patched. In Grazettes, in the vicinity of the primary school, work on concrete bollards, to be installed, is on hold. Manhole repairs are on hold at the junction of Beckles Road and Bay Street. The construction of the slipper and kerb in Clapham is also on hold.

St. Joseph/St. Andrew – Masonry work is being done at Brucevale and Coggins Hill. Road repairs will be at Trio Path and road reinstatement at Lakes Village.  Culvert repairs will be carried out at Richmond Road while road construction continues in Swanns. Debushing will be done in Apes Hill, White Hill and Rock Hall. Drainage work is being undertaken at Mose Bottom, Ermy Bourne Highway and Isolation Road. Persons are reminded not to drive on Swanns Bridge, which has been closed due to deterioration. Motorists and public transportation can now use Springfield to Newton Crescent bypass road during the closure of Melvin Hill bridge.
