ROAD WORKS ACTIVITIES FOR NOVEMBER 17 – 21, 2025

Road Marking

The Road Marking crew of the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) will be installing reflective studs (cat-eyes) from Sam Lords Castle to the Crane in St. Philip and Highway 2A – Bakers, St. Peter to Redmans Village, St. Thomas. The crew will also be replacing the reflective studs on Hangman Hill, St. Thomas. Work will be done Monday to Thursday, between 6:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., weather permitting.   

Motorists are urged to avoid speeding through work areas while road markings are being done, as this endangers the lives of workers and damages the freshly painted road markings.

Ongoing road works

St. Joseph/St. Andrew – Masonry work is being done at Brucevale and Coggins Hill. Road repairs at Trio Path and road reinstatement at Lakes Village.  Culvert repairs will be carried out at Richmond Road while road construction continues in Swanns. Debushing will be done in Apes Hill, White Hill and Rock Hall. Drainage work is being undertaken at Mose Bottom, Ermy Bourne Highway and Isolation Road. Pothole patching will be done in Turners Hall, Chalky Mount, Hillaby and Bawdens. Persons are reminded not to drive on Swanns Bridge, which has been closed due to deterioration. Motorists and public transportation can now use Springfield to Newton Crescent bypass road during the closure of Melvin Hill bridge.

St. Michael – Repair to a damaged manhole at the junction of Goodland and Bridge Gap have been completed, however, it still needs to cure before the grill can be reinstalled. Repairs to damaged manhole covers have been completed however, the damaged culvert is still in need of repairs on Jackson Main Road. On the Mighty Grynner Highway, just outside of Central Purchasing, repairs to a section of the road which sunk, are mostly completed. This area will soon be patched.  Manhole repairs are being done at the junction of Beckles Road and Bay Street. Repairs to a section of slipper and kerb in Parkinson Field, The Pine continue. Repairs to a culvert in Whitepark Road continue, concrete is being cured. In Grazettes, in the vicinity of the primary school, work on concrete bollards, to be installed, is on hold. The construction of the slipper and kerb in Clapham is also on hold.

Christ Church – Repairs to manholes have commenced at Welches (Southern Plaza entrance) Preparation for road resurfacing will also commence at Canevale Crescent. Debushing and drainage works are planned for Coverley Development, Oistins and Providence. Pothole patching is scheduled for Elizabeth Park, Sheraton, Banantyne, St. Davids, Maxwell Hill, Canevale, Newton, Parish Land, Hopewell and Chancery Lane.

St. George – Weeding is scheduled for Salisbury and Mayfield Road. Masonry work, which includes installing speed humps, commences in Valley View. Drainage work will be carried out in Locust Hall. Pothole patching will be done at Old Works Hill, The Palm, Farm Road Bydes Mill and Workmans.

St. Philip – Mechanical excavation and compaction are being carried out at Eastbourne. Manhole reinstatement in ongoing Coral Crescent, Long Bay Development, while manhole repairs are being done in Four Roads. Slipper construction is scheduled for Gemswick while weeding will be done in Ruby Development. Pothole patching is scheduled throughout the parish.

St. Lucy – Drainage works is being done at Rockfield and Well Road. Pothole patching is scheduled for Oxford, Mount Gay Village, Greenidges, Crab Hill, Content and Benthams.

St. Peter – Installation and replacement of bridge posts at The Whim, concrete works at Endeavour and debushing at Pleasant Hall Heights, Ben Hill Woods and Maynards. Weeding is being carried out at Speightstown while drainage works will be done at Maynards Ridge.  Pothole patching is scheduled for Maynards Ridge and Skeetes Road. Farm Bridge remains closed until further notice. Access to the Ronald Mapp Highway from Speightstown, and vice versa, is through Warleigh Road.   

St. Thomas – The footpath and retaining wall at Stoney Gully have been completed, and preparation for paving has started. Masonry work (bridge posts installation) continues in Arthur Seat. Drainage works are also being done in Sharon. Mechanical debushing is being carried out in Content Road. Pothole patching will be carried out in Edgehill, Dunscumbe Hill and Arthur Seat.

St. James – Installation and replacement of bridge posts will be done at Oxnards, St. James while concrete works are ongoing at Independence Drive. Debushing will be carried out at Millionaire Road, junction of Corbin’s Road and Clarke’s Road. Drainage Works at Appleby Gardens and The Garden (Highway 1). Pothole patching is scheduled for Wanstead Heights, Wanstead Gardens, Baileys Road, The Whim and Crusher Site Road

St. John – Masonry works are continuing in Cherry Grove, Sherbourne and Malvern. Debushing will be done in Bath Depot. Pothole patching is scheduled for Guinea, Pool, Colleton, Coach Hill and Bath Land.
