WORK PROGRESSING UNDER THE SCOTLAND DISTRICT ROAD REHABILITATION PROGRAMME

As work progresses under the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) $230 million Scotland District Road Rehabilitation Programme, paving has been completed on a few roads.

Over the last few weeks, the China National Complete Plant Import and Export Corporation (COMPLANT) team, in collaboration with contractor C.O. Williams Construction Ltd. commenced paving in Kings Street, St. Andrew, while paving has been completed at Mose Bottom, St. Andrew and Coggins Hill, also in St. Andrew.

Work is also ongoing on a number of other projects in the Scotland District. In Trio Path, St. Andrew, excavation for gabion work has commenced, while in Laynes Bridge, St. Joseph work on the culvert continues. Along with these projects COMPLANT’s contractor Infra Construction Ltd., is also presently working in Airy Hill, St. Joseph and Bruce Vale, St. Andrew, where bridge work has commenced and piles are being dug.

 In St. Peter, work recently began in Mount Brevitor, where the COMPLANT team, is constructing footpaths (where necessary) and slipper and kerb. This work is expected to extend to French Village and should encompass approximately 3.1 kilometres of roadway to be rehabilitated.

Along with the stretch of road that is currently under construction in St. Peter, three other roads – Four Hill, Indian Ground/Roebuck and Sailor Gully/Orange Hill are all scheduled to commence in the upcoming months.

At present, work on seventeen (17) roads is ongoing under the Scotland District Road Rehabilitation Programme, with White Hill, St. Andrew, (Phase One and Two), Shorey Village, St. Andrew, Vaughns Road No. 2, St. Joseph, Chance Hill, Jemmotts Road and the Animal Flower Cave Road in St. Lucy already completed. Meanwhile, Reece Road in St. Thomas and the Link Road in Four Hill/Prospect, St. Peter, have also been completed.
